Q: What material is used for the sweaters?
A: Most of the sweaters are 100% new wool, but we also carry a few Dale models that are 100% cotton. The sweater material is wool unless otherwise noted.

Q: Do you have a printed catalog?
A: In order to save trees, and to keep up with our constantly changing stock, we do not print a paper catalog. All of our sweaters are viewable online.

Q: I am looking for a specific sweater. Do you have it?
A: Our entire collection is online, so if you don't see it on the web site, we don't carry it.

Q: What's the difference between the Dale and Volund sweaters?
A: Both the Dale of Norway and the Volund sweaters are carefully hand-made in Norway. Note that when we say hand-made, we don't mean hand knitted, with knitting needles. Rather, the sweater material is made on individual knitting machines, then each sweater is hand cut and assembled, using fine Norwegian craftsmanship. The materials used are either 100% new wool, or 100% cotton. Both brands use pewter buttons and hooks.

Dale of Norway is the most famous of Norwegian sweater manufacturers. Dale regularly sponsors Olympic teams, and has some of the most innovative designs available, including the Olympic sweaters. Dale of Norway has created a "Casual" line for women, a "Sport" line for skiing, and a "Classic" line for more traditional Norwegian designs. New designs for each line come out every year. Dale sweaters typically have more exquisite detail work on the sleeves and buttons, and more embroidery. Some of the designs are more modern and sleek than the traditional "boxy" design of the traditional designs.

Volund is a smaller, newer manufacturer, started in the 1990s. In fact, Volund employs only about 15 people, who make about 20,000 sweaters per year, about half of which are exported. Volund sweaters are all 100% wool, and feature fine construction and innovative knitting techniques, some of which avoid the loose strings on the inside, which makes for easier care. Volund sweaters are made from the finest quality wool, and offer great value for the money. You can see pictures of the factory at Volund "About Us"

Norwegian sweaters are built to last. Many of our customers tell us they are replacing a wool Norwegian sweater from 30 years ago.
